Install DSE with Local AI or without Local AI
Choose your installation
RECOMMENDED
WITH LOCAL AI
Installs/configures Ollama and Gemma 3 4B for DSE AI Advisor. With the Full Offline AI package, the model is installed from the packaged files and no model download is required on the customer computer.
WITHOUT LOCAL AI
Installs Data Source Explorer without Ollama or Gemma. Standard connection, discovery, schema, query, preview, report and export features remain available. Local AI Advisor enhancement is not installed.
Before you begin
- Extract the complete DSE release ZIP before running Setup.
- For Full Offline AI installation, keep the complete OfflineAI folder beside DataSourceExplorer-Setup.exe.
- Do not rename, remove or modify files inside OfflineAI.
- Close any running Data Source Explorer instance before upgrading.
Install DSE with Local AI
- Run DataSourceExplorer-Setup.exe.
- Choose the installer language.
- Review this Installation Guide page, then click Next.
- On Components, leave Local AI - Ollama + Gemma 3 4B selected.
- If the Full Offline AI package is present, review and accept the packaged Gemma third-party terms.
- Continue installation. Setup verifies the offline payload, installs or updates Ollama when required, starts the local API and registers gemma3:4b from the packaged GGUF.
- Setup performs a real local inference health check before reporting Local AI ready.
Install DSE without Local AI
- Run DataSourceExplorer-Setup.exe and choose the installer language.
- Review this Installation Guide page, then click Next.
- On Components, uncheck Local AI - Ollama + Gemma 3 4B.
- Continue installation. The Gemma terms page is skipped.
- DSE is installed without Ollama/model setup. Standard DSE functions remain available.

Verify after installation
- Start Data Source Explorer.
- For a Local AI installation, open AI Advisor and test local AI. Ollama should be reachable at http://localhost:11434 and gemma3:4b should be available.
- For a non-AI installation, confirm normal data-source connection, discovery and query functions operate as expected.
Troubleshooting
- If Local AI setup does not complete, DSE itself can still be installed and used without the local AI enhancement.
- Review Logs\DSE-Ollama-Setup.log under the DSE installation folder.
- For Full Offline AI, confirm the complete OfflineAI folder is still beside Setup and has not been modified.
- Do not manually run ollama pull on a customer computer when validating a Full Offline AI release.
Uninstall
DSE only offers to remove Ollama/model resources that DSE recorded as installed by DSE. Pre-existing Ollama installations and pre-existing models are preserved. Silent uninstall preserves third-party AI resources.
